Southern Loggin’ Times magazine Associate Editor Jay Donnell has the opportunity to visit Wedgeworth Logging in Forest, Mississippi. John Wedgeworth has been in the logging business for 43 years and he knows what it takes to run a successful logging operation in today’s up and down economic climate. At 73, he still runs a Prentice loader every day and doesn’t expect to stop anytime soon. When asked what gets him up out of bed in the morning and out to the woods, his response is simple. “My family is what drives me and motivates me to get out here every day,” he says. “I want to make a good living and provide for them when I need to.” Wedgeworth Logging started in the late 1970s when John Wedgeworth decided he was tired of working for other loggers and established his own business.
