Jerry Sapp, a former logger, is now making a name for himself in the chipping business in Northwest Florida. Chipley shares, “I worked with him[his father] for seven years before starting my own business. I operated both of my companies for more than 20 years, but in 2000 we decided to cut back and focus on land clearing rather than logging.” Sapp’s company, SLE, is a family company that runs three chipping crews, two producing pellet chips and one making fuel chips. SLE has been a company that has adapted throughout the years in order to meet their partner, Green Circle Bio Energy, Inc.’s needs. Sapp sees a bright future for SLE, “There’s a lot of land like that within the 40-mile radius we work, so I can see us being busy for quite a while.”
